All In The Mind...Surrealism

The first vision/picture i painted in my adult life was in 1993
A friend had sent me a postcard from Glencoe, Scotland
and i decided to paint a random, ancient Scot.
In my mind's eye, i saw him, sword and all, at the foot of the mountains
and so i began to paint
i chose at random, an aesthetically pleasing red and black tartan for his clothing and fancied his name to be Conall Nae Fear
...The music i listened to was Highland Laddie
and scribble away i did, quite happily.

Soon after, i found myself in the homeland
where my father informed me that that tune was infact not Highland Laddie, but The Campbells Are Coming, you uneducated wretch!
Not my fault if they never sing the words...

So, I find myself in a library with a Name Origins book in my hand, researching someone's family crest...
Let's just see if 'Conall'
is a real name then
Yes
it is

it means Strong As A Wolf and is the predecessor of Mac Donald
...whose battle dress, so the book will now tell me, was the same Red and Black tartan
which they wore
whilst being slaughtered in Glencoe
by the Campbells, don't you know!

Well, so much for random!
T
his uneducated wretch just freaked and destroyed the painting.....hadn't bargained for all that....not back then.....

Here's a pencil re-run of the original warrior, the first guardian/spirit guide i had.

In Light and Love
